DURING lockdown we have been lucky enough to have beautiful Isle of Wight nature spots to escape to.

Now, the Wight Squirrel Project wants to capture this beauty with an uplifting photographic competition.

They are looking for pictures that capture the spring delights of bluebells and squirrels in their natural environment.

Helen Butler, from the project, said: "Each year the Wight Squirrel project has celebrated both these wonderful gifts of nature at our Bluebell Day held in woods near Knighton.

"Sadly, as we can’t have a social gathering this year, we are marking the occasion with this competition.

Any photo that has bluebell woods or, indeed, squirrels and bluebells is allowable (no specific woods necessary)

The winning photo will be included in our annual red squirrel calendar.

Closing date for entries is May 20, and the winner will be chosen by a panel of judges including County Press editor Alan Marriott.

See the Wight Squirrel Project Facebook page for more information.
