THE team behind the Isle of Wight's scare attraction Terror Island have bagged an international industry award.

The team came out on top as the best new event/attraction at ScareCon's industry awards ceremony.

The event was held at Blackgang Chine for the first time last October, with organisers collaborating with production company atmosFEAR to create three intense, immersive scare mazes.

The team joined an online ceremony, live on Facebook, to collect their accolade, and the award sees them now standing on the podium alongside long-standing scare attraction winners such as Alton Towers and Thorpe Park.

Following the news, event manager Dominic Wray said: "I want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the entire Terror Island team — it was a labour of love and I’m immensely proud of all their dedication.

"There’s a tremendous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to create an immersive event like this.

"We all had so much fun working on last year’s event, and this recognition from ScareCON as industry leaders is fantastic.

"We can’t wait to get working on the next Terror Island event — fear not, we will be back.”
