THIS week 75 years ago, the Isle of Wight was getting ready for its biggest party in a generation — VE Day.

The County Press is gathering pictures and memories of that massive celebration as we prepare to mark Friday's anniversary.

We would love to see your pictures of street parties and other events around the end of the war and here are some we have already been sent by Brian Greening, Barry Price and Sarah Burdett, of the Isle of Wight Society...thanks to them for their contributions.

If you have any pictures of VE Day street parties send them to editor@iwcp.co.uk with VE Day parties in the subject line.

With the coronavirus pandemic, plans to mark the 75th anniversary have been largely shelved but don't forget the County Press is holding a big online bash via a live blog on Friday at countypress.co.uk, with lots of great music from fabulous Isle of Wight artists, including Mark King of Level 42, Paul Armfield, Ollie Ducie and Comany B-UK.

There will be a selection of your pictures and memories as well.

And don't forget to see Friday's County Press for our 20-page Heroes supplement, celebrating the anniversary, and the NHS heroes of today.
