AN ISLAND silversmith has taken her craft online after she opened a new e-boutique for her hand-crafted jewellery.

Skylarking Silver in Cowes, owned by Ruth Boudewijn, has begun shipping its ornate silver crafts across the country from the Birmingham Road shop.

Ruth said: "All designs go through a careful process.

"The initial sketch is made and developed, then each design is handcrafted using traditional tools and techniques in either silver, gold or white gold adding pearls or precious and semi-precious stones.

"I value my close connection to the materials and my ever evolving relationship with design and fabrication."

Ruth’s design approach is often inspired by nature as well as architectural forms, design, art and culture.

Her wide-ranging explorations in shape and form result in classic collections of wearable jewellery as well as more unique, individual pieces.

"All items are made by hand in my small workshop located at the back of the shop on the Isle of Wight.

"This highly individualised tradition of making is even more evident in bespoke commissions that can be created in collaboration with us for special occasions and unique gifts for others."
