PLATFORM One College of Music has launched a new songwriting showcase opportunity for young people on the Isle of Wight.

The summer offering is open to Island residents aged between 14 and 24 years old, and entrants don't have to be enrolled at the college.

There is no limit with regards to musical genre — it could be a solo project, collaboration, a band, or an instrumental — the only proviso is for entries to be original music and not covers.

David Pontin, director of Platform One, said: "These are certainly unprecedented times and we are committed to continuing our support to young musicians and creatives across the Island.

"This is not a competition but an opportunity to showcase musical works to a professional industry panel."

The panel will go through all submissions and select three projects, with the chosen artists gaining access to free professional recording sessions, including a producer, session musicians if needed, a mix engineer and subsequent mastering.

Those wishing to enter the showcase should email register@platformone.org for a registration form.

Platform One will email back a form to be completed. Submissions should be sent in the form of an MP3 or relevant web link. Closing date for entries is 31 May.
