A VIRTUAL music quiz is taking place on Saturday — which would have been Record Store Day at Ventnor Exchange.

The worldwide event usually sees record stores participating, but this year will be different.

At Ventnor Exchange, the doors are temporarily closed but the annual event won't be forgotten.

They will instead be holding the Big Virtual Record Store Day Quiz hosted by local musician Doug Alldred.

A Zoom link will be posted to the Ventnor Exchange website and facebook event on Saturday, which people can join from 7.30pm for an 8pm start.

The team at the Exchange recommend you create a household team, as there will be questions about a variety of eras and genres.

There is even a chance to buy virtual drinks through crowdfunder, as a fundraiser. Any support will go directly towards new online platform Brave Island, which will provide young people with fantastic creative opportunities.

Mhairi Macaulay, director of Ventnor Exchange, said: "We are really missing all of fantastic and supportive audience during this strange time and can’t wait to get the doors open again.

"But in the meantime we will find new ways to reach out while we are all doing our bit and staying home."

Record Store Day is normally the Exchange’s busiest day of the year so any virtual drinks bought will be a financial help while it remains closed under lockdown.
