A MAN was arrested in Ryde yesterday evening (Saturday) on suspicion of criminal damage and three counts of assaulting a police officer.

A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said: "We were called to a disturbance at an address in School Street, Ryde, just before 6pm.

“Officers attended, and a 31-year-old man from Shanklin was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, and three counts of assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty.

“He remains in custody."
