FIRE crews from the Isle of Wight were among the emergency teams called to Newport in the early hours of this morning (Thursday), when a blaze broke out in a bedroom.

Crews from Newport and Cowes spent around an hour in Caesers Road, where they used hoses and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire.

Ambulance crews and Hampshire Constabulary were also on scene.

Hampshire Constabulary said, "We were called by the fire service just before 1am today (March 26) to a report of a fire at an address in Caesers Road, Newport.

"Officers are making enquiries into the exact circumstances of the fire."
