EIGHT cases of coronavirus have now been confirmed on the Isle of Wight, the Chief Executive of the Isle of Wight NHS Trust has revealed.

Maggie Oldham says the true figure is now higher than the official government figures published last night (Tuesday), which put the number of cases here at three.

She said that five cases were reported overnight and not all staff were aware of the spike.

There are calls for more testing, to reveal the true scale of COVID-19.

Hampshire has recorded 207 cases, while Portsmouth has 29 cases and Southampton has 24.
