A NEW case of coronavirus on the Isle of Wight means the number of diagnosed Islanders currently stands at two, according to figures from 9am on Tuesday, just published by the government.

Yesterday, the Isle of Wight saw an improvement, when just one case was logged on the government's offical count.

The Isle of Wight County Press has been told that the number of cases is expected to fluctate, as COVID-19 continues to spread.

Public Health England described yesterday's drop as a ‘purely administrative’ change.

The County Press understands that no-one has died on the Island as a result of coronavirus and those who have recovered from COVID-19 are still included in the figures.

A spokesperson for Public Health England said due to the way cases are reported, there are incidents of cases being allocated according to the location of the hospital, instead of a patient's home address.

Health bosses have not commented on reports that any Islanders fighting the most serious of coronavirus symptoms have been transported to the mainland for treatment.
