LEISURE centres, museums and a theatre will close on the Isle of Wight tomorrow due to coronavirus.

The Isle of Wight Council announced today (Tuesday) it will close leisure services from tomorrow following the latest government advice and social distancing measures.

1Leisure fitness centres at Medina, Westridge and The Heights will close to the public from the close of play on Wednesday.

Medina Theatre and the County Records Office in Newport will also close until further notice.

Dinosaur Isle, Newport Roman Villa and the Museum of Island History are also subject to closure as well.

The six council libraries remain open but library events and activities have been cancelled from today (Tuesday).

Although the Isle of Wight Council has said all of its libraries will remain open, East Cowes Town Council has said its community-run town library will close.

West Wight Sports and Community Centre remains open at present.

The IW Council said it would continue to run essential frontline services, including the floating bridge, and further updates on other services and locations will continue to be provided.
