ISLAND artist, Charlotte Legg, has launched a fresh new website to exhibit her work — a firm foot planted on the next stepping stone toward becoming a video game concept artist.

Charlotte, 26, of Newport, took an interest in art from a young age, drawing pictures for her late mum, Teresa.

She studied art as a GCSE and A Level at Medina High School, but her love for the vocation first blossomed when she started reading Manga and watching Anime around the age of nine.

"Growing up, my mum was always my biggest motivator — I could always tell how much she believed in me," said Charlotte.

"She passed away when I was 13, but she still continues to be my biggest inspiration to this day.

"I just want to make her proud."

Charlotte uses art as a conduit to express herself, and as an emotional outlet, and she has worked hard and practised rigorously to hone her skills.

As well as selling prints, she also takes commissions — producing bespoke gifts with a personal touch, ideal for birthdays, holidays and special occasions.

"I use Copic Markers, which are essentially what Japanese artists use to create storyboards and concept art for Manga.

"I begin by roughly sketching out my designs, before going over them with a fine liner.

"Then I colour in the design, making sure my shading is flawless.

"The Copic Markers are best for blending, but they dry fast, so you have to work real quick.

"Finally, I scan my pictures through to a MacBook, and make a few adjustments before printing it out on professional fine art paper."
