A DRUNK driver who crashed her car after refusing a late-night lift from a stranger pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Molly Windsor, 28, of Venner Avenue, Northwood, admitted crashing her car into another parked car as she drove away from Griffin in Godshill, when she appeared before IW magistrates.

Windsor was found by police to have an alcohol in breath reading of 111. The legal limit is 35.

Vivian Ducie, prosecuting, said: "A gentleman was driving by the Griffin in Godshill when he saw a car pull out of the car park.

"So shocked was he by the standard of driving he managed to pull the vehicle over and talk to the woman driving the car.

"He told her she obviously wasn't fit to drive and offered her a lift.

"Somewhat understandably, she refused the offer and pulled away from the gentleman and crashed into another car."

For Windsor, Henry Farley, said: "She has been driving since she was 17 and during those 12 years of driving she only has six points on her licence.

"She is at a loss to explain her startling lack of judgment that night and she is mortally ashamed of what she has done."

Windsor was sentenced to a 12-month community orderShe was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a surcharge of £95.

She was also banned from driving for 24 months.
