The unused bus depot on Pier Street, Ventnor, could soon be demolished and turned into ten flats with two new shops for the high street.

However, the site has been subject to multiple planning applications since 2007, with permission previously granted and withdrawn.

But issues with consent being given 'in a timely matter' meant the developer 'did not have enough time to implement the scheme' before time ran out.

Now, a planning application has been submitted again to the Isle of Wight Council, by an Oxford-based developer, seeking to demolish all the buildings on the site of the former depot, once used by Southern Vectis.

The 'uncomplimentary' depot on Pier Street could be replaced by a three-storey building with ten two bed-flats and two new retail units at ground level.

Comments on the application can be made by March 27.
