ISLE of Wight councillors say Prime Minister Boris Johnson has assured them he is committed to the Island Deal.

Extra cash has long been sought by successive Isle of Wight MPs, who have argued that our Island status should be recognised by the government.

Boris Johnson met a delegation of Islanders at the Conservative Councillors' Association (CCA) conference in Hinkley, Leicestershire, at the weekend.

Council leader Dave Stewart, who headed up the delegation, said he had received "positive assurances" about future funding for the Isle of Wight.
