FIRE crews were left 'outraged' after being called to a medical emergency in Freshwater this evening (Thursday), and learning the casualty had been tormented by local children.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for Friends of Freshwater Fire Station said: "Every now and then, we get a shout where the circumstances leave the crew outraged.

"After providing the initial emergency medical care, we passed the elderly gentleman into the care of the Ambulance service.

"It transpired that local children have, for a number of weeks, been tormenting and causing distress to this chap by throwing eggs at his windows.

"If these are your children, please remind them that this is not funny, not clever and absolutely not acceptable.

"Please look after our old folk. We’ll all be old one day."

At 5.05pm, a single fire engine from Freshwater was deployed to Longhalves Lane — to assist the ambulance service with gaining access to a property.

Isle of Wight Police have been approached for a comment.
