WITH temperatures set to drop this evening (Tuesday), and forecasts of possible snow, the gritters will be out tonight.

Earlier today, the Isle of Wight Met Service issued a weather warning for the Isle of Wight, and has since forecast possible snow later today.

The service said Islanders should expect rain, sleet and hail with a small chance of snow.

Island Roads said its fleet will be gritting the usual routes tonight.

People have been urged to take care on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

UPDATE 5.36pm: Island Roads' winter maintenance will commence at 11pm.
