CROSS-SOLENT travel has been disrupted as Islanders are warned to expect further bad weather throughout the rest of this week.

Red Funnel has confirmed that Red Jet services have been suspended throughout today (Thursday).

Red Funnel tweeted: "Red Jet suspended until further notice due to adverse weather. Our next update will be at 2pm.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused to your journey."

Hovertravel has also cancelled all its cross-Solent flights until further notice.

Yesterday (Wednesday) a chief forecaster for the Met Office warned: "Storm Dennis has long gone, but the legacy of high water levels and saturated catchments remain.

"Although the forecast for the next few days indicates that conditions won’t be as severe, any additional rainfall could create further challenges as river catchments are more likely to respond to extra rainfall more quickly.

"Flooding, especially in areas already heavily affected, remains a possibility."

UPDATE 1.40pm: Red Funnel has confirmed that Red Jet services will resume from 2:15pm.

A spokesperson for Red Funnel said: "Red Jet will resume service from 14:15 from Cowes and 14:45 from Southampton.

"Thank you for your patience."

UPDATE 3.03pm: Hovertravel services will resume at 3.15pm, departing from Ryde and 3.30pm, departing from Southsea.
