AN ISLE of Wight singer has released her first single, having previously taken a sabbatical from the industry.

Piece of Gold is the debut track from 25 year old Bethan John, a graduate of the Newport's Platform One music college.

Bethan said: "I have been singing since I was eight years old, and performing at all kinds of shows, in the theatre, and at festivals, but never finding anything that really felt right or I was truly happy with.

"Songwriting is something I've always loved doing, it is a dream of mine to release music. I became a little disillusioned at one stage, distancing myself from it, but in 2017 I made the decision to really give things a go, and I'm delighted that I did."

Working alongside producer and fellow Platform One alumni, Damon Edward-Ellis, the singer regained her confidence.

The duo composed and recorded Piece of Gold at his home studio, where they are planning to develop future releases.

"We have plans for more singles in 2020, followed by an EP. There is an album in the works we hope to release later in the year.

"I am currently shooting my first music video for Piece of Gold with Love Shack Sound that we hope to make public in the next couple of months."
