SIX jobs are to be lost at Gurit Composite Components — which has a site on the Isle of Wight.

The firm confirmed there are to be six job losses in the UK — but it is unclear whether these will be from the IW or Hamble site.

The move follows the announcement Gurit has sold its automotive business Gurit Hungary Kft to Carbopress, an Italian-based advanced composite parts manufacturer.

On October 29, 2019, Gurit announced the closure of the automotive business in summer 2020 following a divestment process which did not result in a transaction.

Subsequently, Carbopress expressed interest in acquiring the business, which lead to the sale.

The parties have agreed silence over the selling price.

A spokesperson for Gurit said: "There are six UK staff members affected by the sale.

"The company is in consultation with these staff members.

"This concerns only Gurit Composite Components. The company Gurit UK is not affected."
