MORE than £2,000 was raised when 40 dedicated dancers took part in a six-hour Burlesque Chair Dance.

They performed for six hours non-stop, in aid of Wessex Cancer Trust, at Gurnard Pines.

The ladies, who regularly attend classes all over the Island, took on the challenge to dance four routines during the day, sponsored to raise vital funds for the charity's crisis appeal.

Dancing to tunes She's So Lovely, Mustang Sally, Sexy Silk and Dirty, with direction from three Isle of Wight instructors, there were twists, turns, grinding and lots of laughter.

In total they collected £2273.75, with more still to come in.

Sarah Spillane, area manager for Burlesque Chair Dance on the IW, said: "It's lovely to see all the girls come together and raise such an incredible amount for a cause that helps family, friends or individuals affected by cancer.

"Everyone loved it, even with bruises and aches and pains at the end of the day."

Burlesque Chair Dance has regular classes all over the Island.
