A MAN has found his way back to safety after entering the sea at Yaverland.

Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team assembled at the beach following alerts from the public that someone was out at sea — possibly indulging in an extreme sport.

He was able to get himself back on dry land.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said the casualty was back on shore and had been spoken to about water safety.

Bembridge team said: "Tasked to persons cut off by the tide at Yaverland beach Sandown. Casualties had gone to assist a kite surfer who was in difficulty.

"Members of the public on scene also given safety advice as they were playing with their children in the surf."
