THE modified car community is gathering to remember Michaela Logan, who died in a crash in Arreton earlier this month.

The 19-year-old, of Carisbrooke Road, Newport, was driving a Ford Fiesta when she crashed at Hale Common — where a sea of floral tributes can now be seen at the roadside.

Her brother, Tom Logan, and Facebook car group Wight Modified Family, have organised a tribute for Sunday, February 9, at Tesco Extra in Ryde.

They posted on Facebook: "I know a lot of you will be looking for a way to say goodbye to M and I guess it's our way as a car community to do that by way of a gathering.

"Thanks to some amazing help from Dom Green and the IW Police, we have managed to secure sanctioned use of Tesco once it closes on February 9.

"Police will be attending because of the numbers expected and to help keep things civilised so we don't alienate the hospitality of Tesco.

"This will also mean entering and leaving the event will need to be calm and safe and that litter gets left behind.

"Because of ongoing investigations, funeral plans have not yet begun, but I'm hoping this will be a great way for the Isle of Wight car community to pull together and say goodbye in our own way.

There will be fireworks courtesy of Hunts Fruit and Veg, and money will be raised for Michaela's favourite charity, Wight Brainy Bunch.
