PARENTS have been urged to remain vigilant after a teenager was reportedly approached near a school, by a man offering sweets.

The incident happened at Beatrice Avenue, East Cowes, near Queensgate Primary School, at around 4pm yesterday (Tuesday).

However, the boy was not a student at the primary school, but a teenager.

An Isle of Wight police spokesperson said: "We received a report of a suspicious incident, where a man asked a teenage boy if he wanted some sweets.

"No crime has been reported.

"However, we continue to encourage people to report suspicious incidents to us."
