ISLANDERS responded to the request to Wear it Bright on Friday.

Wessex Cancer Trust asked people to brighten up January and raise cash for its crisis appeal.

The trust has issued a plea to people across the Wessex region to dig deep to help it raise £600,000 by the end of the month to keep the charity going.

Among those taking part on the IW were: Asda, Fidelity International, Snap Fitness IW, Medina Foodservice, IW Pearl, Hovertravel, Red Funnel, Fawley Guest House, Shanklin; CatURpillars Toddler Group, Shanklin; Shanklin Co-op, Lyn Blackledge's Go Live Granny Community, Natwest, Newport; A-Plan Insurance, Newport; HSBC, Ryde; Kevars Cafe, Ryde; Pet Doctors, Blackberry Lane Pre-school and nursery, Cowes; Wootton, Haylands, St Helens and Cowes primary schools; Cowes Enterprise College and IW College.
