ONE of the front-runners to become next leader of the Labour Party, Rebecca Long-Bailey, will speak at a public event in Oxford tomorrow.

The MP for Salford and Eccles is due to give a talk and take questions in a free event at Blackbird Leys Community Centre.

Organisers say: "Join Rebecca Long-Bailey and guest speakers this Monday night to hear her vision for the Labour Party and our path back to power. And ask questions about why you should join team Rebecca."

It comes after one of her rival leadership contenders, Keir Starmer, also visited Labour heartland in east Oxford last week, when he served meals to children at a community centre and then visited a new homeless shelter.

That event was joined by Oxford East Labour MP Anneliese Dodds as well as several leading Labour members of the city council.

It is not yet clear what local figures will attend Ms Long-Bailey's talk tomorrow.

The event is free but ticketed. Doors are at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.
