AN INDIAN film used the Isle of Wight as a location over the new year.

Rainbow Films used several Island locations to shoot parts of the production, which has the working title The Chief, directed by Ani Sasi.

The film's language is Telugu, which is spoken by approximately 75 million people. Telugu films are known within the film industry at Tollywood films.

The production came to the Isle of Wight courtesy of Island People Agency, which found extras and locations.

Business owner Dadina Sagger said: "They loved the Island so much, I have been asked to find 29 locations for early March for another Indian feature film.

"Alongside my business Island People Agency, I have set up Isle of Wight Locations. This is to start a database on all we have to offer on the Island, so I hope people will also register their own properties as we need to start the launch to show the film and television industry all the Island is able to offer.

"We can provide all they need to shoot films and dramas on the Island, which is only two hours away from London. It is very exciting."

The Chief stars lead artists Nitya Menon, Ritu Varma and Ashok Selvan, and is scheduled for release in November.

They filmed at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Ryde Pier, and Newport town centre.
