THE Isle of Wight Council has expanded its garden waste collection scheme — it will now be available to 3,000 more households.

Next year's waiting list is now open and anyone who wants their garden waste collected has been urged to sign up.

Cllr Steve Hastings, cabinet member for waste and recycling management, said: "Our fortnightly garden waste subscription service is entering its third year in 2020 – and it’s been so popular we’re increasing the number of homes we can visit.

"A total of 7,000 households already subscribe to our service, which is great for avid gardeners and garden maintenance people alike.

"It’s fantastic that we’re now able to offer 3,000 more spaces. The most positive and regular feedback I hear from people across the Island is that it is a great timesaver, with less trips to the tip, meaning they can spend more time enjoying the fruits of their labours, relaxing in the garden.”

The council said existing subscribers would be contacted within the next few weeks with renewal details.
