Isle of Wight's Monsoon and Accessorize to close — 13 staff made redundant

The Monsoon and Accessorize clothes shop will cease trading on January 23.

A staff member at the High Street shop told the County Press the company had hoped to reduce its rent, but negotiations with the landlord had proved unsuccessful.

"The first we knew of the closure was when a 'to let' sign appeared at the beginning of December, although we weren't officially told the news for another two weeks," said the staff member.

All 13 members of staff — some of whom have been employed since the shop opened 20 years ago — were offered relocation to other branches, but none felt it was a viable move.
