DOG walkers have been urged to be vigilant after a substance — believed to be palm oil — was washed up on Ryde beach.

The pollution is being investigated but experts have warned it could be 'extremely dangerous' to animals.

Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team was called at 10am this morning (Tuesday) to investigate the pollution.

They said: "Palm Oil can be extremely dangerous to animals. If you are considering walking your dog along the beach, please be extra vigilant."
