A TRACTOR dealership has stepped in to help Ryde Inshore Rescue after its lifeboat launch vehicle was vandalised.

The Hunt Forest Group, the Isle of Wight's John Deere dealership, based in Rookley, has pledged to donate a new windscreen and fir it for free.

As reported, rescue volunteers slammed the 'mindless vandalism' after discovering the damage yesterday (Sunday).

Hunt Forest Group sales representative Charlie Calloway said: "We saw it on the County Press website and thought we needed to do something about it.

"They need to be able to get going in an emergency. Now, if someone needs rescuing tomorrow, they'll be able to get to them.

"We are the best possible people to help in this situation, we have been able to order the new windshield and have it shipped overnight from Germany so it gets here tomorrow (Tuesday).

"As soon as it arrives, we'll be heading straight out to fix it."
