FIRE crews and paramedics have been called to a bedroom in Ryde this afternoon (Saturday) after smoke was spotted.

Crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to the address on Amherst Place after smoke was seen coming from a window.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We were called to the address at 12:13pm.

"We have sent to appliances from Ryde, but crews currently are still on the scene."

The fire service has also called for paramedics to attend the scene.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service said: "We have received a request for paramedics from the fire service and we will be sending a crew shortly."

UPDATE 2:20pm: Fire crews have now left the scene after extinguishing the fire.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We received the stop message at 12.57pm.

"Fire crews have now left the scene but paramedics are still present at the home."

UPDATE 4pm: The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has said: "The occupants have been treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

"No one has been transported to hospital and paramedics have left the scene."
