THE case against two teenagers charged with arson has been sent to the Isle of Wight Crown Court.

Alex Raftery, 18, of Pool Lane, Bournemouth, and a 16-year-old boy from Ryde, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court today.

They entered no plea.

The teenagers are charged with arson after a fire destroyed three barns on a farm outside of Ryde, resulting in £153,000 worth of damage.

Kenneth Beak, the owner of Gatehouse Road Farm, lost three barns to the blaze.

Raftery and the 16-year-old will appear at the crown court on January 27.
