THE roaring 1920s were recreated in Yarmouth on New Year's Eve with a Great Gatsby party at the Royal Solent Yacht Club.

More than 100 people attended the event, with the clubhouse transformed with bright decorations and a Great Gatsby backdrop.

Men were in black tie and the ladies in period dresses.

Club secretary, Claire Hallett, said: "It was an amazing evening. What better way to see in 2020 by embracing the glitz and glamour of the 1920s.

"We continued the theme with lots of dancing to the Cat Skellington jazz quartet who were fantastic.

"There was black and gold all over the clubhouse with balloons, party hats and big paper balls hanging from the ceiling.

"We also had big Martini glasses filled with beads and black feathers on the tables.

"People could have their photos taken with the Great Gatsby backdrop.

"Members and guests were welcomed with a glass of Taittinger and there was a four-course meal, which was fabulous.

"It was a great way to welcome in the new year."
