ARMED police and officers with dogs descended on a Ryde property following reports a man had been attacked with a knife.

Following the incident on Friday night at the East Hill Road flat, a police cordon was put in place around the entrance to the building, where blood could be seen on the floor.

Three people have subsequently been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

Neighbours told the County Press a man who lives at the building was injured and taken to hospital.

The County Press understands he was attacked with a knife.

One neighbour said: "We saw armed police and canine unit there, then a forensic unit the next day."

Another said: "I've never really spoken to the man, but I know he was taken to hospital. There was a lot of blood."

An Isle of Wight police spokesperson said today: "We were called to reports of a burglary just before 8pm on Friday, December 27, at an address in East Hill Road, Ryde.
