AUTHORS and illustrators will be coming to the Island this February half-term, to tell their stories to children.

The Isle of Wight Story Festival will be coming to the Riverside Centre, in Newport, on February 22 thanks to Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council.

The festival will see talks and workshops given to children, encouraging them to practice their creativity.

Organiser and storyteller Sue Bailey said: “You can meet two fabulous illustrators, Nick Sharratt and Korky Paul.

"Nick has illustrated lots of Jacqueline Wilson and Julia Donaldson books, while Korky Paul’s drawings of Winnie the Witch will be instantly recognisable to many children.

"I am really looking forward to their talks.

“We are delighted to acknowledge the financial assistance of Newport and Carisbrooke Community Council to bring this event to Newport.

"The Riverside Centre is a good, child-friendly venue and Newport is easily accessible from anywhere on the Island.

"Not only that, it’s good to be part of the regeneration of Newport, bringing affordable cultural events to the heart of the Island.”
