A post mortem ruled out the unexplained death of a woman in Kidlington was murder.

The man who had been arrested in connection with this incident has been released with no further action.

Police officers discovered the body of a woman aged in her fifties after they were called to a property in Church Street, Kidlington, at around 10.14am on Saturday morning.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Inspector Peter Scott said: "As a result of the post mortem examination, a file will now be prepared for the coroner.

"I would like to thank the local community for their understanding whilst we have been conducting our investigation.

"Our thoughts remain with the family of the woman who has died at this difficult time."

Speaking to the Oxford Mail at the scene nearby residents spoke of their shock at the death of the woman.

One neighbour - who preferred to remain anonymous - said: "This is a fantastic neighbourhood, it's the best street in Kidlington and the best people.

"It is very surprising because it is a friendly area and everybody knows everybody here, there are lots of professionals.

"We have Nobel prize winners on this street. We are all shocked and surprised."

Another nearby resident said: "It's not the sort of thing you expect to happen here.

"It's definitely a very friendly community so it is really unusual. I would say it's one of the safest parts of Kidlington here."

One woman said: "There is never any trouble here, apart from parking problems.

"It has always been a nice street, everybody knows everybody, they talk to each other."
