SKILLS training is to be provided on the Isle of Wight at no cost to employers or employees — thanks to the European Social Fund.

CSW Group has been successfully awarded £3.4 million from the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) for training the Solent workforce, on the Island and in the New Forest, Southampton, Eastleigh, Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth and Havant.

Available until July 2021, the project is working with a host of training providers and colleges to deliver the programme.

The training can be delivered flexibly on business premises, according to individual needs.

The training is open to all Solent employers and can be used to support current staff, including those who are facing redundancy or have recently been made redundant.

Toby Brown, from the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, said: “I am delighted to support this initiative led by CSW and funded by the European Social Fund.

"Upskilling the workforce can have a significant impact on a business but sadly, is often ruled out due to the costs involved.

"This new project can help reduce the financial burden by absorbing the cost of training.

"This exciting development can only be good for businesses and employees and I urge you to get involved."
