EMERGENCY services were called to an overturned car at a busy junction in Cowes this afternoon (Friday).

Crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, as well as paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, were called to a free a woman from the car on the junction of Park Road and Place Road.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We were called at 2.31pm to extricate a female from an over turned car.

"We sent one appliance from Newport. The crew was able to free the woman from her car and she has now been handed over to the ambulance service."

Southern Vectis tweeted: "There is an overturned car at the junction of Place Road and Park Road Cowes.

"Route 1 via Roundhouse may be delayed or diverted."
