A CHRISTMAS fair — and a Moulin Rouge night of dancing — were two events which helped raise £1,600 for Yarmouth RNLI.

The fair, including a snow storm, a grand raffle and carol singing, was held in the town's recently refurbished Kings Head pub, and the Moulin Rouge night, with dinner, took place at Yarmouth Sailing Club.

Fundraising chairman, Debbie Cotton, said: "Both events were a great success. The dancers were brilliant at the Moulin Rouge night. It's such an energetic routine they have to perform, but it was fantastic entertainment.

"The sailing club had candles on the tables and we turned down the lighting during the performance to make it look like a nightclub, so there was a terrific atmosphere.

"The craft fair was also a huge success. We opened it with our own Santa, Michael Craig, standing under a special eco-friendly snow storm and there was a real Christmassy atmosphere about the event. We would also like to thank Rob Benwell of Country Inns for his support."

Shoppers were entertained by carol singers, led by Dick Dawson, and local craft stalls included the Green Barn Goat Farm, Wight Apothecary, Mulberry Tree Wood Turnery and Pimm and Streeter Mosaics.
