POLICE have confirmed a man detained by armed police yesterday (Monday) was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm.
As reported, officers were called to an address at Rooke Street, Newport, shortly after 7am, after concerns were raised for the man's welfare.

An Isle of Wight police spokesperson said today (Tuesday): "The 55-year-old arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm has been released with no further action in relation to this offence."
