A BANNER advertising one of the Isle of Wight's most iconic Christmas traditions has been stolen.

Terry and Sue Ramplin's Christmas switch on at their Long Lane home celebrated it's landmark 20th annual event in the build up to Christmas.

The event has raised more than £30,000 for Island charities since the year 2000.

Sue said: "Our banner, which was on display near the petrol station at Morrison's in Newport, was attached with plastic ties so it wouldn't have blown away.

"We have had some issues in the past with road signs, which have been returned, so we are hopeful that somebody may know something about the banner.

"It's a shame for the charities, as some people who would have been aware of the lights might now not be."

This year the couple nominated the Wight Brainy Bunch and John's Club as the recipients of donations they receive.
