ISLE of Wight businesswoman Gillian Cox has been awarded New Franchisee of the Year by Wagging Tails at their 2019 Annual Conference in the New Forest.

The accolade recognises Gillian’s success in establishing her dog care business on the Island, having launched in June, with competition from branches across the country brushed aside following her decision to make the switch from operating a guest house to offering exclusive dog boarding.

At Wagging Tails, dogs stay in the family homes of dog carers who are checked by Gillian and her two Bedlington Terriers, Molly and Izzy, and where required are licensed by the local council.

Gillian said: “Bringing Wagging Tails’ exclusive service to the Isle of Wight has been an amazing opportunity for me to continue to work with my dogs and to also ensure that the Island’s dogs are able to enjoy a home from home holiday when their owners take a break.

“I have some amazing dog carers working with me and we have looked after some awesome dogs. It is truly a privilege to work with great people and lovely dogs on the Island.”

Lisa Suswain, director of Wagging Tails, said: “In the short time we have been working together it has been a pleasure to see how Gillian has thrown herself into running her business. This award acknowledges the passion, professionalism and sheer enthusiasm with which she has approached building her business. I am excited at the prospect of what we can achieve working together over the coming years.“
