VENTNOR has experienced a spate of vandalism after residents woke up to discover cars missing their windscreen wipers.

Police have confirmed that a number of vehicles on South Street were targeted by vandals last night.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Police said: "We have had reports from residents that a number of vehicles along South Street have had their windscreen wipers removed.

"A second report, which was also made this morning, is from someone reporting that their own car has had its windscreen wipers removed on South Street, and the car door has been scratched.

"This is believed to have taken place some time overnight last night (Tuesday).

"Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact police on 101."
