A NEW cafe, offering locally sourced ingredients, a naturalistic decor and the occasional art class has opened in Newport.

The Walled Garden Cafe, on Holyrood Street in Newport, opened on November 9 to new owners Murray and Cynthia Ince.

The new cafe specialises in gluten free alternatives as well as having many ingredients sourced from Island businesses and suppliers.

The cafe also offers the occasional art class, lead by Murray.

Manager Laura Ince said: "It's all local produce, from our chutneys and preserves which have come from the Borneo Pantry, to our Isle of Wight cheeses and vegetables.

"For the menu we try to provide gluten free and vegan options wherever possible, all our handmade cakes and baked good are gluten free.

"We even plan on growing our own vegetables in our garden, so far all the herbs we use on our food have grown in our garden.

"We also make hampers from local stock, which make a lovely alternative Christmas gift.

"We offer a loads of choice and we sell a lot of of the local produce over the counter too."

The premises was formerly Primrose Cafe.
