ROBIN Hill's new Christmas extravaganza — Polar — opened on Friday.

Featuring rides, Santa, a larger-than-life moving Polar Bear, festive entertainment and beautiful Christmas decor throughout the park, the event proved fun for all the family and finished off with a mesmerising, magical show.

The park was illuminated with dozens of Christmas trees, including one so tall it was difficult to see to the top.

The magical experience featured walkways adorned with lights, giant illuminated presents, marshmallows for toasting, stilt-walkers and a quartet of carol singers.

Children could meet Pippa the polar bear, then find out more about her in the finale, which was set in an ampitheatre. The show starred singers, circus-skill artistes and young local actor Oliver Back as the boy who lost his favourite polar bear toy.

The surprise twist at the end was pure delight to warm the hearts of all ages in the audience.

Polar is on selected dates until December 21.
