COWES Sports continued their mini revival under new boss, Max Draper, with a hard-fought 2-2 draw away at Fleet Town in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division this afternoon (Saturday).

Ji Nash gave the Yachtsmen the lead just before half-time with a 20-yard strike.

But after the interval, poor defending allowed Fleet to level.

Cowes regained the lead thanks to a Michael McEnery goal.

The Islanders had their keeper, Ed Hatt, sent off and, with seconds remaining, Fleet equalised against the run of play.

However, the point hoisted Cowes up to fourth bottom, their highest position since September.

In Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League, East Cowes Vics were beaten 3-0 against high-flying United Servces Portsmouth at Beatrice Avenue, while Newport enjoyed a superb 4-1 victory away at Whitchurch United.

In the battle of the top two in Division 1 of the Harwoods Island League, Whitecroft and Barton Sports beat Shanklin 2-1 at Sandy Lane, to open up a nine-point gap over their rivals.

Brading Town leap-frogged Shanklin with a crushing 5-0 win away at Bembridge.

The Romans are seven points behind the leaders with two gmes in hand.
