COASTGUARDS have been called to Brighstone this morning (Wednesday) following reports a dog had gone over a cliff.
The Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams were called to Chilton Chine, off the Military Road, at around 9.30am.
A UK Coastguard spokesperson said: "We were called to reports a dog had gone over the cliff. Teams are still at the scene and we are still investigating."
UPDATE 1.40pm: Rescue crews have beem stood down in their search for the missing dog.
A spokesperson for the UK Coastguard said: "Teams were searching for the dog but the search has now been completed and the teams are standing down.
"Unfortunately we have not been able to find the dog."
