A HUGE amount of debris scattered across Newport Road, Upper Ventnor, when a three-car collision happened just before midnight (Friday).

Three vehicles suffered damage and one injured person was taken to St Mary's Hospital by ambulance.

The IW Fire Service sent an officer plus crews from Sandown and Newport, as initial reports were that a car was smoking — although it wasn't on arrival of the firefighters.

The fire crews conducted scene safety, and police also attended.

Southern Vectis put diversions in place on the Route 3 at Upper Ventnor, diverting from Godshill through Whitwell to Ocean View Road, Ventnor, in both directions.
