GUESTS at a forthcoming Christmas lunch for socially isolated older people will be treated to a festive party gift thanks to a team of knitters.

Gurnard Knit and Natter group have generously donated their skills and time to produce a Christmas stocking for each guest, which will contain a small gift.

The lunch is being organised by Age UK Isle of Wight with Rouse, on Wednesday, December 18 at Barton Manor, East Cowes.

Knitters Carole Thomas, Sharon Lund, Emma Glaseby (who knitted 30 stockings), and Gurnard link co-ordinator Jennie Lewis said they were pleased to help with the event.

The stockings were gratefully received by Alex Pugh, Lisa Butler and Ben Silk of Rouse and Maria Bunce of Age UK IW.

Gurnard Knit and Natter Group meets each Thursday afternoon at the Gurnard Press café and newsagent.

Their previous community projects included knitting poppies for Remembrance Sunday and a Christmas yarnbomb in the village.
